About Us

Laura Rescoe instructs group obedience classes at Gone to the Dogs in Novi. She also does in-home private lessons in Wayne & Oakland counties. She is the owner of Positive Way Dog Training.

Laura started training dogs as a child. She began with a Springer Spaniel, Pepsi, competing in 4-H as well as AKC obedience competitions where she gained her dogs' CD (Companion Dog title). At a young age she started working for local Groomers, Kennels and Vet clinics in her then hometown area of Clarkston.

In 1997 Laura brought home Dusty, a little yellow lab mix. It was with Dusty that Laura began using positive reinforcement training and decided to begin teaching others using these same techniques. She began instructing classes and private lessons in 2001 and started Positive Way Dog Training in 2004.

She is a member the APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) which is a professional organization of individuals committed to becoming better trainers and consultants through education. The APDT is dedicated to educating the public about dog friendly training techniques. Laura is also a member of The Pet Professional Guild a group of pet industry professionals who are committed to force-free training and pet care philosophies practices and methods.

Laura lives in Livonia with her husband, 5 year old son, and two dogs; Monti her 14 year old Large Munsterlander and Piper a 3 year old German Wire-Haired Pointer mix.

Besides Dog Training one of Laura's favorite things is taking her dogs on camping trips mainly in Northern Michigan and the U.P. However, she has even taken her dogs camping in the Florida Keys!
