This class is offered to dogs and puppies over 4 months of age who have already taken our Polite Puppy Class or our Basic Class (or equivalent). This class is great for those who wish to gain more reliability with their dog.
We will help you take the skills that you learned in the Polite Puppy and Basic Manners class and apply them to real life situations! This class is designed to be repeatable until you reach the level of training that you desire! This class also includes exercises to help prepare your dog to take the CGC (Canine Good Citizen) and the TDI (Therapy Dogs International) tests!
You will continue working with your dog on the basic obedience commands while adding more distractions, distance and duration. You will also begin working on several new exercises!
Some of the skills that we will work more on are:
Getting your dog to walk well on leash.
Stays with ever increasing distractions and with added distance. Sit, Down and Stand stays will all be covered.
Come when called also adding in distractions and distance.
Wait and watch you for more and more things that they want.

Practicing “Leave It” while out for a walk
Medical equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers will be introduced as distractions.
Loose leash walking by other dogs while keeping their attention on you.
A placement exercise will be taught which will teach your dog to go to his bed or a mat when asked.
